Asking this question might send you to the Google results that tell you that your rates are lower than what they would be if you were working at a publishing company, but that doesn’t really tell you much about how much you actually make.
While this is an important question to ask when you’re starting out as a freelance book editor, the answer is probably a lot less than you think.
If you’re just starting out, you might be paying about $5,000 per article, according to a report from B2B search engine SEMrush, which also says that the average rate is $12,000.
That’s a lot lower than the $20,000 that a publisher like Penguin or Simon & Schuster will pay you if you work at that company.
But if you’re already in the business and you’ve done your homework, you’ll probably end up paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000 to $50,000 a year.
That could easily be enough to support your family for the next five years.
But you’ll need to work on your freelance income to do that, because the freelance rate is based on your article.
To calculate the freelance rates you’re actually making on the content you’re writing, you need to look at the total amount of time that you’re spending on the article, how much time you spend editing it, and how much of the article you’re paid for.
In other words, how many hours do you spend writing an article?
To do this, you’re going to need to know the article’s length.
The shorter the article is, the lower the rate.
If it’s shorter than three to five paragraphs, the freelance article rate is usually about 25% to 30%.

If the content is about the arts, then there’s a good chance that the rate you’re paying will be a lot higher than the rate that a major publishing company will pay for that type of content.
In that case, you probably need to find out if you can negotiate with a publishing agent to have your content published on a major publisher’s website.
If that’s not an option, you may be better off with a small publisher or even a freelancer, since they’ll likely offer you better rates.
