(AP) A Connecticut man has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in the slaying of his wife and her two children.
The Concord Monitor reports Daniel C. Cogley Jr. pleaded not-guilty in Superior Court in Manchester.
He was charged with murder, assault and other counts stemming from the April 2015 death of his 27-year-old wife, Susan Cogleys, and her children, 9-year old Tanielle and 5-year baby Ethan.
Tanielle was shot while walking with her siblings in a backyard near her home in Manchester, Connecticut, shortly after midnight on April 3, 2015.
A gun was found near the bodies, and investigators recovered a gun from Coggers vehicle.
The prosecutor said Tuesday that Cogicles wife had called 911 to report that her husband had shot her.
Police responded to the home and found Tanielles body lying in the backyard.
Authorities later found a .45-caliber revolver in the couple’s SUV, and an assault rifle in their home.
They were not able to identify the gun because of a time stamp.
Tailgating near the home, the prosecutor said, was part of the crime scene.
Cogley told police that his wife had threatened to harm her children and that she was upset because he had failed to provide for her.
