An online campaign started by a freelance journalist to “tell the world” that she was a freelance actor turned me from a career as a writer into a star obituarist.
“We’ve tried to tell it from our perspective, but it’s just a story, and there’s so much more going on behind the scenes,” Ms Gebre told Al Jazeera.
The project, called The Voice, is run by the actor and comedian Zara Taylor, who runs her own social media platform and blog.
“I am a writer.
I love writing,” Ms Taylor told Aljazeera.
“If I get a call saying, ‘You want to do a feature for the BBC?’
That’s why I’m here. “
But then, I’ve been told I’m not good enough for this.
That’s why I’m here.
I’m doing it for my fans, for the fans of the world.”
The Voice” has been shared more than 1.6 million times since it launched on Tuesday.
“They love that the voice of someone who’s working so hard, that’s the voice that matters. “
People love the stories,” she said.
But Ms Taylor and Ms Guebresa are not the only ones behind the project. “
And I’m very lucky to have such a wide and varied fanbase, so I think they’re going to be really grateful to me.”
But Ms Taylor and Ms Guebresa are not the only ones behind the project.
“The Voice has attracted a huge following on social media, both from our own blog, and from the wider UK social media world,” Ms Tan told Aljeune.
“It’s now become a worldwide movement.”‘
I’m a writer, I like writing’Ms Gebresa said she hopes the project will also help people understand the difficulties that writers face in finding work.
“Writing is the last thing on the minds of many of us.
They don’t like it, they don’t feel like they can make it.
And there are so many barriers to entry that people don’t think about,” she told Aliju.”
I’m very passionate about this project.
It’s very inspiring, it’s very brave, it makes me feel like I’m at a point where I’m actually doing something, that I’m really on the right track.”
Ms Tan said she’s been contacted by other freelance actors across the globe who also want to share their stories and be heard.
“When people are working hard, they get to do things like this.
It just shows the world that they can do it, and I think it will encourage more people to do it.”
